After traveling across Latin America, India and many other destinations, Carolina finds her most influential inspiration from indigenous people, markets, books and ancient cultures. The collections are primary focused on the textile richness of Latin America which characterize the Carolina K spirit from its beginnings.
The brand is known for its unique prints and hand embroidered details made authentically by artisans from remote regions in Mexico, Peru and India using hand loomed and hand embroidered ancestral techniques. Carolina's interest in keeping ancient traditions alive is a vital part of her philosophy and drives her to develop each collection in a slow fashion and sustainable way.
After living in the magical town of Tepoztlan, Mexico for the last 10 years with her husband Photographer Ivan Belaustegui and her children, Carolina now spends part of the year in her new studio in Miami.
Carolina has recently developed the uniforms for the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach where she has put together a Luxury retail boutique located at the spa of the hotel. The boutique carries a Faena-exclusive resort and swim line as well as hand loomed ottomans and pillows. The Carolina K home collection is also featured throughout the hotel.
